Special Events at Almquist Lumber
BOATBUILDING SEMINARS
We
are continuing our boatbuilding seminars here at the
store, taught by local boatbuilder Ken Bechtol. He is constructing
a 13 foot lapstrake plywood oar & sail boat called the Beach Pea,
similar to the boats seen here. The planking shell of the boat is
complete. (see photos of the boat in progress) The gunwales have
been added and the boat has been turned over. The seat risers have been
installed. Thwarts, knees, and inwales will be added to further
strengthen the hull. When the boat is complete it will be painted
and varnished. All are welcome to attend, even if this is your first
seminar.
Our goal is to help participants overcome
any barriers that have kept them from completing a rewarding boat
building project.
Seminars will be held on the following dates:

The
seminars are all designed to stand alone, so you can attend all of
them, or any one you choose.
Seminars run from 10 AM - 2 PM, and are held here in the Almquist Lumber store.
